Dia’s outfit consisted of an oversized midi dress paired with a cape-length jacket, both crafted from recycled materials.
Dia Mirza is renowned for her unwavering commitment to sustainability, earning her the title of ‘Greenpreneur of the Year 2023’ and gaining recognition for her eco-conscious fashion choices. She recently made waves with her appearance at the launch of ‘Planet India,’ a visual storytelling initiative celebrating India’s climate and nature solutions. For this event, Dia opted for a completely recycled outfit from Tilla by Aratrik Dev Varman, curated by costume designer and celebrity stylist Theia Tekchandaney.
Dia’s outfit consisted of an oversized midi dress paired with a cape-length jacket, both crafted from recycled materials. The Prussian blue dress showcased intricate geometric patterns in white, complemented by a long full-sleeve shrug. To accessorize, she chose silver oxidized jhumkas and black shoes. Her hair was elegantly styled in soft curls, and her makeup featured subtle touches like black eyeliner, mascara-laden eyelashes, contoured cheeks, and nude lipstick, completing her eco-friendly look.
Dia expressed her gratitude to the designer and shed light on the ‘Recycled Project,’ a zero-waste initiative undertaken by Tilla in collaboration with Soach, an NGO based in Gujarat, India. She explained that this project not only provides sustained employment for women in Pindharada and nearby villages but also encourages them to explore their artistic talents. The initiative repurposes fabric scraps from the workshop, transforming them into patchwork textiles for clothing and quilts. By incorporating these scrap fabrics into new designs, Dia and the team ensure that no labor effort goes to waste.
Dia Mirza’s dedication to sustainable fashion is not new. In the past, she made a notable statement by wearing a printed ‘bloom-moon’ co-ord set from the sustainable fashion brand Ekastories during a meeting with the CEO of the Wildlife Trust of India last year. Her consistent advocacy for eco-conscious choices and support for initiatives like the ‘Recycled Project’ highlight her role as a sustainability queen, contributing to a greener and better Earth.
